Impressionism

art album

In contrast to the classically oriented painting, which was supported by the official art exhibitions, impressionism was interested in moving the atmospheric interplay of light and color to the foreground. The impressionist painters set themselves the goal of painting simple motifs and scenes of daily life with particular regard to the appearance of color. Light and color consequently gained a whole new meaning. The endeavor to capture the fleeting glimpses of the ever- changing light and weather conditions in the outdoors required very shift work. The old master’s method of layering down many coats of color was no longer suitable for this faster way of painting.
