Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) was the initiator of the Impressionist group exhibitions. Being the oldest of them, he was called the “father of the Impressionists.” His work includes over 1500 canvases, lithographs, monotypes, drawings, watercolors and mixed technique works. His latest paintings have been reevaluated in art history research, highlighting achievements in the pointillist style. Pissarro became famous due to the landscape paintings, but the representations of urban life during the late period are nothing but the modern pictorial quests replace the traditional subjects, opening the way to the 20th century.
